2016 New To You Reading Challenge

2016 is going to bring many good things. I can feel it.

That being said… I’m joining another challenge in addition to the Pick Your Genre Reading Challenge and the Goodreads Yearly Challenge. I know, I know. You’ll probably think I’m crazy. But… All these challenges allow cross-overs, so really, I’m not too crazy. You should try it.

2016 new to you reading challenge

This awesome challenge is hosted by the lovely Anna at Herding Cats & Burning Soup. It is a year long challenge that runs from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016. You can sign up here, if you’d like.

The challenge is all about something new to you. Whether it be a new author, new series, new debut book, a new genre… It’s all up to you!

** Any book over 80ish pages (please no short stories)
** Books MUST be read in 2016
** All book formats count!
** Challenge cross overs count! (This one I’m so excited about since I am doing the Goodreads Challenge (for positive) and probably a couple others, I think…)

Anyone can join, you don’t have to be a blogger. Just use Goodreads to keep track.

More details to come below.

Like the Pick Your Genre challenge, there are levels to this one as well.

Since cross-overs count… I’m going to put my level at Level 3 (Wading In) at 25 books. I think I could easily do this since my Goodreads challenge is a little more than double that, and my other challenge is two levels. Wish me luck!

Level 1 (Sunbathing): 6 books
Level 2 (Dipping the Toes): 12 books
Level 3 (Wading In): 25 books
Level 4 (Going for a Swim): 50 books
Level 5 (Diving In): 75 books

Level 6 (Cannon ball! ALL in!): 75+ books

Your level can change at any point in time!

Again, the sign up is over here. Be sure to check it out if you’re interested.

  1. For the past five years or so, I have set myself the challenge to read at least 50 books, this year I set myself the challenge to read at least 75 books, and I’m currently reading my 93rd book – hoping to hit 100 before the year is out!

Awesome! Good luck! I made my Goodreads goal this year of 50, so I’m upping it next year. Not sure to what though.

  2. This seems really cool. I was just thinking about challenging myself to read more intimidating books. I buy them then never read them! I want to change that. Maybe I will give this a shot. I am just learning how to use GoodReads (I know I’m late to the game) and love that we can keep track of all our challenges. I am excited for the reading challenges.

Goodreads is amazing! I have no clue what I’d do without it!

I buy book and hardly get around to them. My ARCs keep stacking up! Lol

      1. Lol. I have the same problem! Nice to know im not the only one

    93 books! I’m very impressed. I used to manage about 50 but then I had a child…

    1. Kendra Kendra says:

93 is impressive! I feel you about having a kid. I read so much more before my son was born. Now, I stay up late to get a little extra reading in. 🙂

  4. I’m participating in the other challenges but I don’t think I’ll do this one. I think I’ll just keep to two challenges. Good luck 🙂

    1. Kendra Kendra says:

Thanks! Good luck to you too! 🙂

  5. Avatar anna@herding cats & burning soup says:

Yay! I love this challenge. There are just so many books and authors and series out there to still check out 🙂 Best of luck with all of your challenges this coming year!

    1. Kendra Kendra says:

Thanks! And thank you for hosting these super cool challenges! 🙂
