5 Things On Sunday | Firsts

Welcome back!

This week’s topic is…

5 Things That are My Firsts:

My first car was a blue Daewoo Lanos. They stopped making them years ago, but man I loved that car. It was a 2000, low miles; until I got ahold of it. Then I put almost 100k miles on that bad boy. That car had tons of firsts in it. But I’m only going to include the car πŸ˜›

My car looked almost exactly like this:

My first job was at Taco Bell, when I was 15 years old. That is actually how I met Chris, believe it or not. Yep, we’ve known each other for 10+ years. It’s crazy! I did need a job to pay for my car…

My first apartmentΒ was a small one bedroom, in San Diego, California. It was the first apartment my first (ex)husband and I had together. It’s where I got Cami too, as a rescue cat. He’s stayed with me all this time. I <3 that cat something fierce.

My first greatestΒ achievement (besides giving birth πŸ˜› ) is when I graduated high school a year early. I did have other minor achievements; my essay was tied for first place in the DARE program, I was an honor roll student one semester in middle school, etc. But I am hella proud of graduating a year early. I put in tons of work, and it paid off.

My first best friend was a girl named Amanda. I was 4, and she was 3 when her family moved into the neighborhood, right next door to me. We were inseparable for years. Until her parents got a divorce and they moved πŸ™ I was so freaking sad when they moved. I mean, I was like 8, I think. But it devastated me. Every day we were playing at each other’s houses, we played ‘school’ together (and took turns being the teacher). We were in the same Girl Scout troop, we loved the same things, had the same “life plans”. We still keep in touch every now and then. She just got engaged, and is a teacher at one of the local schools where she moved to so many years ago. πŸ™‚

Well, that’s my 5 things. It was tougher than I thought. I’ve had a lot of firsts, but some didn’t feel they were worthy of sharing! LOL.

  3. Five Things/First
    – February 1987 bought a one way ticket to San Francisco. Flew all by myself to visit my best friend in northern California and loved the freedom so much I decided to stay.
    – Rented my first apartment in Yuba City, CA and rent was only $275 back then.
    – Bought my first vehicle on credit. 1987 Fort Ranger pick up with monthly installments of $99.
    – Crossed the Oakland Bay Bridge. I lived on the island of Oahu in Hawaii for all of my life. We don’t have bridges there.
    – touched and played in the snow

Did a lot of “firsts” in 1987 because I left the Hawaiian islands and moved to norhtern California. I got a taste of independence and freedom and couldn’t get enough of it.
