Bookish Thoughts

Bookish Thoughts

Hi everyone! How are you on this lovely Thursday?

Let’s see… Where did we leave off last time? Oh, that’s right…

♡ My job! It’s actually going pretty well. I’m hoping to receive my first paycheck within the next few days. I’m still juggling it between everything else, but I have been on a school break, which unfortunately, resumes on Tuesday. But I have enjoyed the leisure of working from home, and not having to go anywhere.

♡ In case you missed it: I have joined a Summer Reading Program. It is going awesomely. That’s not a word, but who cares? 😉 I pledged to read 50 pages a day. So far, I have made that goal. It was defintiely super difficult a couple of the days, with cutting it close at finishing page 50 at 11:30 PM. Ha, I know, right? Super close! But I’m doing it.

♡ Because of the SRP (goes by #BloggerSRP on Twitter), I have finished 2 books so far this month! Yep, you heard me right. 2 BOOKS. That is outstanding, considering it’s only July 7th. Usually it takes me 1 week to read a single book. This 50 pages thing is actually helping me along, which is awesome, considering I have tons of books to read this month. I have been posting my progress on my Twitter each night. Be sure to follow me if you want to see my progress. Or the other randomness I bring. 😀

♡ Or you can always follow my Goodreads to see how I’m tracking there too. Spoiler Alert: I’m 5 books behind schedule! Grah. Must read faster!

♡ Over the weekend, we celebrated Caden’s 5th birthday. I literally cannot believe five years have gone by. It’s so crazy. My mom was right. Time sure flies when you have kids. For days leading up to his birthday, he’d say that every day was his birthday. Then he’d get frustrated it wasn’t the actual day yet. I hung up two banners. They are still up. I’m going to leave them up for a few more days, and then take them down. He just loves them. Well, and his birthday. But that’s a given, right?

♡ Within the next few weeks, I will be hosting a couple of giveaways, so be on the lookout for those!

♡ Also, be on the lookout for a couple new recipes to showcase. I have been cooking and baking, guys. Yay!

♡ I’m not sure if I mentioned anything about this yet, but… I am thinking that once I finish up my English degree, I’m going to go back for an Associates in Accounting. I’ve been doing bookkeeping for part of my job, and I am loving the financial aspect of it. I already talked to my academic advisor, and he did a quick crunch of the numbers, and it looks like I might only need 5 credits in order to obtain a second degree. So it might be worth it. However, these next 3 classes will tell if I truly like Accounting or not. This decision is subject to change, and of course, I do still have a year and a half left before I actually have to decide. But don’t worry, my passion is English. <3 So I’m not giving that up!

♡ For the first time in my adult life, I read 2 books at once. It’s a small accomplishment, but I did it! I have a physical ARC that needs my attention, as well as an eARC. I read the physical one for like 70 pages, but went outside for a break. I realized I didn’t take my book. I pulled up the Kindle app and started reading another book. Guys. This is quite awesome for me, because I cannot read two books at once! I just can’t. But I did. However, the only downside is that I did not pick up the ARC until I finished the eARC. So did I really read two books at once? How does this work?!

Haha, I guess this week’s post is all about books and the blog. Who would have thought? 😉

What happened in your week?
Happy Thursday!

Until next time,

State of the ARC

  1. Avatar Random Reads says:

    Sounds like you’re busy! I can’t wait to see what you’ve been cooking/baking 🙂

  2. I definitely struggle with reading two books at once; I end up gravitating towards one and wanting to finish and it just seems like one of those instances where multi-tasking, so to speak, just doesn’t work for me.
