DNF Rant

Listen. Are you listening? Listen. Guys…I don’t know what it is, but I have gone through a string of DNF books! In case you are not familiar, DNF is an abbreviation for “Did Not Finish.” Grr. I don’t know what it is, but I have had so many! I am starting to feel like a book snob. In the last couple of weeks, I have DNF’d SIX books. Yes, SIX. I can’t believe it either.

DNF Rant

To be fair, some of these were just awful. The writing was choppy and skipped from scene to scene and was ultimately too confusing to read. Others I just could not get into, no matter how hard I tried. Others I gave a fair shot and would get 25-30% into the book and be bored to death. At this point in time, I feel that if I am not entertained that deep into the book, then it probably isn’t going anywhere. Books like that are difficult for me to read because it takes me 3 times as long as a book I am entertained by.

Maybe I am just crazy. Does this happen to you guys? I feel like this was a big chunk of DNF books to have but at the same time, I am fairly new to reading. Okay..that sounds weird. What I am trying to say, is I am fairly new to reading as much as I am now. I have read (and finished) more books this year than the last 7 years combined. Maybe even longer. So, I think I may be still trying to feel my way around the reading world. Haha.

Anyway, here is a list of the books I have DNF’d recently:

Dark Webb (The Dark Webb Series Book 1)The Night Series Collection: Books 1 and 2Brothers and Sisters

Have you guys DNF’d enough books that you want to rant?

I’m not one to DNF a book but I came really, really close this week. I’m still struggling to finish it. It’s only 280 pages and I’m on day 4 of reading it. I typically read a book of that length in a day. I haven’t heard of any of the books you have DNF’d but I’ll be sure to avoid them!

I know the struggle. Each of the books I have DNFd were not very long but it was taking me DAYS to get as far as I did. I felt really bad about DNFing a few of the ones I did, but others I just couldn’t get past the weird grammar/writing styles. Good luck finishing the one you are reading now! -T

I actually just finished it today and reviewed it on my blog. It was a 2 star read for me.

Nice! At least you made it through. It gets so challenging sometimes because you feel invested and don’t want to just give up reading a book. Haha.

Exactly! I’m happy I finished it.
