Down the TBR Hole 4

Down the TBR Hole 4 is becoming something I like. I hope you guys are too! My goal this week is to stay the same as last week: eight.

If I am correct, Down the TBR Hole originated here. Basically, the gist is to start at the beginning of your TBR and go through a few books and decide if you’re going to keep them. My goal is to go through a minimum of 10 books each week. At 10 books a week, this would take me years to get through! I may do a little bit more, depending on how it goes. What do y’all think? I started at 1594, I believe. A shit ton of books lemme tell you! Each week, it is going down just a little bit.

Let’s get started!

The books (1-5):

The Truth About You by Melissa Hill.

This cover is so adorable; I like it! I’ve only read one book by Hill before. It ended up being one of my first DNFs. I just couldn’t get into her writing. Besides, the editing was atrocious! I couldn’t get passed the first couple chapters. I’m not too sure how she ended up being a number one bestseller. I may give her another chance someday, but not right now.

And, the blurb doesn’t sound too appealing with this one. Not a huge fan of reading about Hollywood actresses and actors. It’s just not my thing.

The Verdict: REMOVE

Just One Day by Sharla Lovelace.

Again, love the cover! A second chance love novella, my favorite kind! It will definitely have a small town feel to it as well, which is always a picker-upper to me.

The Verdict: KEEP

Just One Reason by Kirsten DeMuzio.

Honestly, I cannot get enough of second chance love; nor can I get enough of small towns! This book has both! My inner self is screaming in joy! Haha.

The Verdict: KEEP

Summer of Dragonfly Changes by Joan Gable.

This book sounds good; however, it is part of a series. And it’s not the first book. I just don’t have time for series, especially for ones I don’t own. Ugh. The cover is pretty too! Guys. I think I need a lot of help!

The Verdict: REMOVE

A Wicked Game by Evie Knight.

Blasts from the past can always be wonderful. Of course, that does depend on how things ended. It looks like it’s about to steam up for the two MCs. This could be an excellent novella.

The Verdict: KEEP

The books (6-10):

Everything You Desire by Elyssa Patrick.

Oooh, the cover! As a short story, this is going to be good. From the blurb, it sounds exactly like my type of book. The only downside is that I may want more! Hahaha.

The Verdict: KEEP

The Alpha Group by Maya Cross.

Erotica is always a go-to genre for me. I love it! I can’t even tell you why; I’m just drawn to it. Alpha Group looks like it was three short stories published as one novel. I love when a collection happens because I don’t have to worry about getting each one separately.

The Verdict: KEEP

 Escorted by Claire Kent.

Oh, yes. A virgin who falls in love with her escort? Yes, yes, yes! 8 out of 10 times, when a woman loses her virginity, she definitely wants more. Let’s see where this goes!

The Verdict: KEEP

Arms Wide Open by Juli Caldwell

Another cute novella. Just based on that alone, it’s probably a keeper. As I’ve said before, I do enjoy using short stories and novellas to help me out of a reading slump. Or if I just want something short to read. They are helpful for numerous reasons. Aww, yeah.

The Verdict: KEEP

Friends Wanting Benefits by Luke Young.

Definitely part of a long series. I think I own a few of them, Kindle ebooks of course. But the fact that it’s a series is holding me back. I have absolutely no idea when I would be able to dedicate enough time to actually read books in a series.

The Verdict: REMOVE

The books (11-15):

 Always You by Te Russ.

Meh, this one just feels so predictable. Guy loses his wife. Girl loses her father. Girl’s in financial trouble. Guy steps in to help. They fall in love. No time for predictable books!

The Verdict: REMOVE

 Eleven Days by Lora Lindy.

Adore the lighthouse on the cover! Stalker, murder, and love. What a great combination! Depending on how it’s done, it could be really good! Let’s do this!

The Verdict: KEEP

 Source One by Allyson Simonian.

A grumpy CEO and an assistant with a secret. Yes, please! Another novella is here and we all know how much I like them!

The Verdict: KEEP

When Wishes Collide by Barbara Freethy.

There was a blue book in high school with the word ‘summer’ or ‘secret’ somewhere on the cover. I have no idea what it’s called. But it was by this author. So I added a ton of her books into my TBR because I could be wrong about the word. Randomly adding books to my list does make for a huge list. I mean, really, Kendra?

The Verdict: REMOVE

 30 Days by K Larsen.

So many topics in this book! A dark romance, a touch of abuse, a loss, and a list of things the MC wants to accomplish. The cover shows a bit of a dark side and it does draw me in. I’m not sure if I like how the title is repeated three times, but so over that. I’d definitely give this one a shot.

The Verdict: KEEP

Only 5 books this week. Granted, a ton of keeps were novellas. Those are just hard to get rid of because they’re so easy to read! Bummer about my goal, but oh well. At least I got rid of 5! Yay!

Total removed: 26
Total kept: 34

Thanks for joining in on the fourth edition of:
