Down the TBR Hole 8

Down the TBR Hole 8 is a great way to get rid of some of those books you say you’ll read but never will. This is one of those things. I have been doing fairly well too! No matter what, each week is getting better because I am getting rid of at least two books. Every book is one step closer to a smaller, more manageable TBR.

Down the TBR Hole originated here. Basically, the gist is to start at the beginning of your TBR and go through a few books and decide if you’re going to keep them. My goal is to go through a minimum of 10 books each week. At 10 books a week, this would take me years to get through! I may do a little bit more, depending on how it goes. What do y’all think? I started at 1594, I believe. A shit ton of books lemme tell you! Each week, it is going down just a little bit.

Let’s get started!

The books (1-5):

Take Me Now by Faith Sullivan.

Other than the first book in the series not being available on Amazon, this actually sounds interesting. However, considering I can’t buy this book, I have no idea where I’d get it!

The Verdict: REMOVE

 The Game by AJ Carella.

I have yet to read anything by Carella. I’m not even sure the reason! Probably just that I have too many other books to read. The Game is sitting on my Kindle, so that helps a little bit. The blurb sounds good. It’s a romantic thriller, and we all know how much I love romance!

The Verdict: KEEP

Love, Lies, & Consequences by Cassandra Carter.

Wait a second. IS THAT A SNAKE?! Oh hell no.

The cover freaks me the fuck out. Ahhh!

This book sounds interesting but that damn cover. Plus, it’s the sequel and I have no idea what the first book is.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

 Textual Encounters by Morgan Parker.

Ugh, it had me until the blurb said it was part of a trilogy! I must stay away from those! Help me, guys. Tell me no.

Please tell me no.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

This is sooo hard!

When Lightning Strikes by Brenda Novak.

What a cute, romantic cover!

But this is another series, even if it is a stand-alone in the series.

I haven’t read a Novak book yet, but I don’t think this would be a good place to start. Besides, I don’t own the book, so that’s problematic too.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

The books (6-10):

On the Way to a Wedding by Suzanne Stengl.

She looks like a runaway bride… Haha.

Ha, according to the blurb, she is a runaway bride! Damn. The rest of it doesn’t sound too interesting. I’m willing to bet this was a Kindle freebie way back when.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

The Girl in the Box by Robert Crane.

Yep, another series. What is wrong with you, Kendra? We know you don’t like series…. And the blurb doesn’t intrigue me anymore.

Ahhh. Guys. Come on. I am so glad 99% of the books I’ve removed so far were Kindle freebies.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

 Sara’s game by Ernie Lindsey.

Have you ever read a blurb and been like, “yes, yes, yes!” An unknown to me author, a series, AND a cover like that?

Count me in. Sorry guys!

The Verdict: KEEP.

 Christmas Delivery by Susan Willis.

Another book that is no longer on Amazon. Haha, really? Well, that makes this decision pretty damn easy.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

 Skinny Dipping by Alicia Kaye.

I’m totally indifferent about the cover. I like the heart life thingy. But that’s about it. Ugh.

The rest seems meh too. Another one bites the dust!

The Verdict: REMOVE.

The books (11-15):

 Breathe Again by Joelle Duff.

This is the old cover; the new one, I’m not too fond of.

Meh. A movie star and someone who ‘never intended’ anything? Ugh.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

 Love Renewed by CS Janey.

A trilogy that isn’t on Amazon. Where am I going to buy these books if they’re not on Amazon? I only have a Kindle and damn it if print books cost too much. Haha.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

Forever & Always by Jasinda Wilder.

I only have one problem with this book. The male MC’s name. It’s my son’s name.

The male MC’s name. It’s my son’s name. There’s just something weird about reading a fictional character with the same name as your kid. What if there are sexy time scenes, or he’s abusive, or something else? Not even going there.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

One Week and Tomorrow by Crystal Gore.

The blurb is too short to really say anything about the book. Why can’t blurbs just be perfectly in the middle each time? They’re either too long or too short. Where is the middle, people?! Ahaha.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

The Confetti Killer by Chris Myers.

Covers spark something in me! I absolutely like this cover. It’s so pretty with the confetti!

This seems extremely interesting.

Normally, I usually save the detective stuff for watching TV. Like a detective as the MC. But this just sounds really good.

The Verdict: KEEP.

There are some interesting books this week. Damn these series for creeping in on my TBR. 12 books were removed this week! What a feat! I think I’m getting the hang of this meme. 😉

Total removed: 73
Total kept: 49

Thanks for joining in on the eighth edition of:
Down the TBR Hole!

How are y’all liking this meme? Would you change anything about it? Let us know in the comments!
