Down the TBR Hole 9

Down the TBR Hole 9 is a great way to get rid of some of those books you say you’ll read but never will. This is one of those things. I have been doing fairly well too! No matter what, each week is getting better because I am getting rid of at least two books. Every book is one step closer to a smaller, more manageable TBR. And let’s be real. This is something I really need! Haha.

Down the TBR Hole originated here. Basically, the gist is to start at the beginning of your TBR and go through a few books and decide if you’re going to keep them. My goal is to go through a minimum of 10 books each week. At 10 books a week, this would take me years to get through! I may do a little bit more, depending on how it goes. What do y’all think? I started at 1594, I believe. A shit ton of books lemme tell you! Each week, it is going down just a little bit.

Let’s get started!

The books (1-5):

 Star Struck

What a sexy cover! Hot damn! Although, I’m not a fan of the sticker that says ‘for fans of 50 shades’… It’s the same thing as comparing a book to ‘Gone Girl’. It’s completely over done. Get over it.

The blurb sounds intriguing but I don’t read many musician books. Honestly, I think the musician aspect coupled with the Christian Grey aspect has put me off. Ugh.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

 Starting Over

Y’all know I am a sucker for second chances. But this cover is so unappealing. It’s too animated. If it was a real tree, imagine how much that would suck me in!

Again, sometimes blurbs can reveal way too much information about the book. This is one of those times.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

 Love Potion

Ok, for real. What is up with these covers? Maybe I’ve just seen so many great covers and now some just look like trash? Maybe it’s the font? Who knows.

A collection of short stories seems appealing. For just a second, I did contemplate keeping this because it’s only 55 pages. But those are 55 pages I may never get back. So complicated!

The Verdict: REMOVE.

 My Life on Craigslist

Hmm. I’m not sure if I like the girl on the cover, but it seems interesting enough. Let’s see…

There’s not much about this one that appeals to the reader in me. It could be a possibility if I didn’t have hundreds of other books to read.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

 What Once Was Perfect

See? Covers like this are yummy! Haha.

This one is about a small town romance and a second chance romance. Yesss! Count me in. Plus, it’s part of a series, buuuuut it’s a standalone book. That makes it even better!

The Verdict: KEEP.

The books (6-10):

 In the Stars

Interesting cover. It reminds me of ‘The Fault in Our Stars’, doesn’t it?

The blurb sounds pretty good. But I think I already have the book figured out. From the blurb, we can tell the MC is a down on her luck character. She decides to look up an ex from the happiest point in her life. (Never a good idea, btw). Either two things will happen: he’ll be happy and she’ll be miserable, or he’ll be miserable and she’ll reach out, giving them a happily ever after.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

 Just a Little

Oooh, cute cover! And a series of novelettes. There are three novels in the series, but numerous novelettes. The question begs to differ though: are the novelettes connected, which would make it a long series.

Upon further inspection, they are all connected, also upon three different novels. So it’s basically like 12 novelettes. 12 guys. Whyyyy.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

Honey, Your Shoes Ain’t Nothing New

No. Just no.

Authors: covers do make people run away. Seriously consider what you’re putting on the cover.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

 Three Girls: The Complete Trilogy.

Ugh. Kendra, why must you add trilogies you know you will never read?!

Each book on its own could sound interesting. But really, who has time for trilogies?

The Verdict: REMOVE.

In Search of a Love Story

Oooh, this cover! A book with books on it. It speaks to me.

Basically, the MC is absolutely clueless when it comes to romance. So she reads a ton of book, in hoping to attract her true love.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

The books (11-15):

What a glorious cover! I absolutely adore it.

What’s inside of the book? Not so much. The blurb just sounds confusing. I had to read it twice to get it. Say what?

The Verdict: REMOVE.

 Wedding Fever

The colors make me want to jump into the book. Although, it is a little werid that a girl is in the background with ripped pantyhose….

This one is a short story and that definitely appeals to me. But the rest? Not so much.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

 The Good Girl’s Dream

When I added these books to my TBR, they must have had different covers. Some of these are terrible!

Upon visiting Amazon, the cover definitely changed. And I like it! The blurb doesn’t say much, so I clicked into the Look Inside option. Yes, yes, yes. Ahaha. The first sentence pulled me in, and the paragraph after that, bam!

The Verdict: KEEP.

Twenty Eight and a Half Wishes

Another cute cover, but a series…

Damn, this series sounds like it would be something I’d enjoy. But there’s so many of them!

The Verdict: REMOVE.

 Holly and Her Naughty eReader

I love pictures like the one on the cover. Where it’s one repeated picture. But I do have to wonder what that has to do with an e-reader. Unless what she’s holder is the e-reader?

Spencer created an interesting blurb, but the werewolf section threw me off.

The Verdict: REMOVE.

I only kept 2 books this week! Seriously. I am on a damn roll. I’m deleting books off my TBR like a boss!

There are some interesting books this week. Damn these series for creeping in on my TBR. 12 books were removed this week! What a feat! I think I’m getting the hang of this meme. 😉

Total removed: 86
Total kept: 51

Thanks for joining in on the ninth edition of:
Down the TBR Hole!

How are y’all liking this meme? Would you change anything about it? Let us know in the comments!
