Happy 1st Blogiversary!

Hey guys. Guess what?!

Yep. Reads and Treats has been underway for 1 year! You have no idea how fast this year has gone by…

It seems like just yesterday (April 12, 2015) I was launching my first post. Speaking of… In case you never caught it, check it out. Just be aware. I was a newbie! *cringe*. You’ve been warned.

But for reals. I want to thank each and every one of you, my loyal readers. Without you guys, I probably would not have stuck around this past year.

Ok, I gotta quit before I get all mushy. Shhh. It’s almost midnight. I’m tired 😉

Onto what you have really been waiting for.

The Questions!

♡ What was your favorite subject in school?

English, of course. My least favorite subjects were History and Science (STILL ARE). Well, and Math. But English was a time when I could learn about what I loved. I could read, write, and try to figure out the language. Currently, it is still my favorite subject in school. 😀

♡ Would you rather live in your favorite book or the characters from your favorite book come into the real world?

Oh man. I would have to say the characters from my favorite book come into the real world. My favorite book is Kissed By An Angel by Elizabeth Chandler. It’s a YA Mystery / YA Romance. But one character is a total nasty-poo-head. I can’t say much else otherwise spoilers. But I think I could deal with him, or at least try to send him to juvie :-P. Ivy is such a sweetheart though, and Tristian. Mmm. The way he holds on, no matter what. Oh, and Will. Hmmm. Two complete swoon-worthy guys.

♡ If you’d have a book-themed party, what would it be and what unique elements/food/activities would make it come to life?

I have been thinking about this one all week long! I’ll be honest, I’m a little stumped. A book-themed party would definitely be a mystery, maybe James Patterson’s “Women’s Murder Club”. However, I’m not sure what food would make it come to life. But activities? Definitely a murder mystery. I’ve always wanted to play a part in a mystery. That would be super cool!

♡ What did you want to do as a job when you were a kid?

As a kid, I wanted to be in numerous professions. I wanted to be a teacher. A lawyer. A writer. A mother. I remember playing school with my best friend (shout out: she ended up being a teacher!). I remember telling my mom I wanted to be just like her (stay at home mom). I wanted to be a lawyer until I realized they needed like 8 years of college. Uh nope. That faded quickly. But being a writer always stayed. Now, I just want to read book and get paid for a living. Being an editor solves that!

♡ What is your favorite movie?

Hands down, The Notebook. A close second is The Little Mermaid. In third place is RentRent is actually one of the very few (like less than the number of fingers on one hand) Broadway musicals I love.

♡ Who is your role model?

My mom. She is my number one role model. I gave her (and my dad) an extremely hard time during my teen years. She has loved me through everything. If I can only be half of the woman my mom is, I’ll be happy.

♡ What book or author from your childhood influenced you most in your reading now and why?

Hmm. My reading now is 100% different from my reading as a child. If I had to guess,  I would say Ramona Quimby, Nancy Drew, and The Baby Sitter’s Club all turned me on to reading. I devoured series when I was younger. One specific series I remember (which I might be the only one) is the Amy, Number Seven series (Replica) by Marilyn Kaye. I was head over heels for those books.

♡ How long does it take you to write a blog post?

Ah, this one mostly depends on what I’m writing. A review usually takes me 30 minutes, between getting book info, to layout, to writing the review. Tags take me forever! Discussions hardly take any time. Writing prompts take a while too. Recipes are probably the posts that take the longest time. Actually baking / cooking, to pictures, to layout, to typing the recipe. I have spent upwards of 60 minutes on a post, the least: 5 minutes.

♡ Do you ever think about quitting blogging?

I’ll be honest, yes, I have. I think I don’t have enough content, or I am not reading fast enough (as some of the other bloggers do), or simply I feel like I cannot come up with new content. Although I haven’t quit, there have been times when I just don’t feel like blogging. Life has gotten busy, or I’m just in a slump (which happens). I power through it, and always remember that if I need to take a break, I am able to. Sometimes, I think, I put so much pressure on myself. That’s normal. But as a fellow blogger, we always need to realize it is not that big of a deal to take a break. If you don’t do that tag, it’s ok. If you don’t participate in a meme for a few weeks, no biggie. Blogging should be fun, not stressful! <3
