It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?
Hello everyone! Welcome back (a day late – again!)! I’ve seen this meme floating around everywhere. I am excited for us to continue with this meme! Welcome to our ninth It’s Monday, What Are You Reading?
This is a weekly meme, now hosted by Book Date. Tune in every Monday for bookish talks and future plans!
Let’s get to it!
So here they are:
What Happens During the Holidays is a festive anthology I read this week. Y’all know I am a sucker for short stories; this book is full of them! The only author I knew is Webster, but I was excited to read bits from other authors. I gave it a 4 out of 5 hearts. Definitely, check it out if you’re in the mood for steamy holiday stories. (Not a read-a-thin book).
The next book I read was The Day She Cried by K Webster. Guys. This is one of Webster’s best books ever. It’s a close second in my top books. This is one of those books where you need to go in blind. No expectations are allowed during this book. 5 out of 5 hearts. (Read-a-thin and #minimoji book).
Up next I was able to fit in Sweet Temptations: The Babysitter by LM Mountford. It’s a super short read, sitting at less than 50 pages. It was literally the perfect read to dive into after The Day She Cried. An erotica novella was just what I needed. But it wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be. It ended up getting a 2 out of 5 hearts from me. This was the second #mimimoji book I read.
I squeezed in one more book over the holiday weekend. Such a Pretty Girl by Laura Wiess. Like shit. This book had me angry (and hooked) from the first page. I devoured this book in less than 10 hours. (I had to take many breaks because of the book, but also life. Adulting is not fun sometimes). This was a 4.5 out of 5 hearts for me. I hardly ever do half hearts, but this one is a solid 4.5. There was one thing about the book that just irked me. I can’t give it away cuz spoilers. But ahhhh. If you’ve read a lot of dark-ish books like me, reading the blurb on the back tells you exactly what you need to know about the subject matter. But damn if I wasn’t hooked. Anyway….
Minimoji has started this week! There are only a few days left now, but it has been going super good! Don’t forget to check out my tentative TBR. So far, I’ve read 3 books, which completes 6 challenges. I am definitely doubling up on these. Haha.
Again, if you missed my Read-a-thin / November TBR post, be sure to check it out. This readathon is all month, so I will be sure to get plenty of reading done! I have already completed 11 books, which means 9 challenges!
How is your reading going so far?
Tiffany is still reading Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire. We need to help break her out of her slump! She has read a bit further in this one, but between work and school, there has hardly been any time for play!
