Reading Habits Tag

Hey there fellow bookworms! It’s time for another tag!

The Reading Habits Tag

1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

No, I pretty much read anywhere I can. The couch, chair, desk, my bed…

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Either, mostly a random piece of paper. I am ashamed to say that I do not have many bookmarks.

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/ a certain amount of pages?

I can just stop reading at any point. I have a toddler, so my focus tends to get interrupted all the time.

4. Do you eat or drink while reading?

Sometimes, yes. Most of the time I drink water or Mountain Dew, my favorite choice of drug.

5. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

Yes, both. Well, music only if it is in headphones, because after a while I can tune it out. I know it’s weird, but it helps me concentrate better than hearing all the noises around me. TV only if it is not something I’m interested in. Cartoons are playing most of the time, so it’s really easy to pick up a book and just read.

6. One book at a time or several at once?

Oh my. ONE AT A TIME. I cannot read more than one at a time. I tend to get characters, plot lines, etc. all confused. It’s really weird because I am great at it when watching more than one TV show. Right now, I probably have 5 or 6 that I am continuously watching and I hardly ever get those mixed up. With books, it’s just different. Those require more concentration, and I can’t review books or remember them if I am reading so many at one time.

7. Reading at home or everywhere?

Everywhere! Sometimes, I can tune out all noises and just read. Other times, the noise around me does not bother me at all.

8. Reading out lout or silently in your head?

It depends on what I’m reading. I have found that recently, if I really need to remember something, I will read it out loud. My textbook for my Creative Writing class is a great example. I have had to read portions of it aloud to help me better understand it.

9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

Skip pages, never. Unless I absolutely positively hate the book. Which is hardly ever. Reading ahead, sometimes my eyes tend to and my brain won’t stop it! I’ll skip to the bottom of the next page, or if I’m at the end of a chapter, I’ll skip ahead, read the last paragraph, then go back to where I was actually reading. It’s definitely weird.

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

Most people would say keeping it like new. However, I am not most people. Sure, breaking the spine seems weird, but to me, it’s a sign that the book was well loved. I have many books on my shelves where the spines are broken. I don’t do it on purpose, though. I love the look and feel of new books. It just happens.

11. Do you write in your books?

Write in my books? What is this nonsense? Hahaha.

I wasn’t tagged by anyone to do this tag, but I tag anyone who is reading this! If you want. If not, that’s cool too!
