With its thriving military base, Seaside, North Carolina, is teeming with heroes of all stripes. But, as the Hero’s Welcome series from Annie Rains continues, it takes a cowboy to rescue the town’s newest resident from heartache.

After a bad breakup leaves Julie Chandler completely devastated, she comes to Seaside seeking a fresh start. A talented, compassionate yoga teacher, she has developed a program to help alleviate the effects of PTSD, but getting a bunch of bullheaded Marines into downward facing dog might be impossible. So Julie’s shocked when one of her first students dives in headfirst—and almost tempts her to take down her walls with his easy smile and electrifying touch.

Ever since Texas cowboy turned Marine pilot Lawson Phillips lost a crew member in a helicopter accident, he hasn’t been able to fly. When a psychologist orders him to attend, of all things, a yoga class, Lawson’s outraged—until he finds out Julie is the instructor. She’s beautiful, graceful, and completely guarded when it comes to his advances, but he’s determined to find out what makes her tick. Because underneath Julie’s hard shell is a woman Lawson knows he could fall for—and he’s not ready for the ride to end.

Annie does it again! Another swoon worthy Marine. *Have I mentioned yet that I am a sucker for military romance? 😉 If it helps any, my first husband was a Marine… Mmmm.

A PTSD-ridden Marine. A crushed, broken hearted woman.

Julie knows exactly what she wants. She comes back to Seaside with a plan in mind. And oh boy, is it a good plan. Julie has made me rethink my whole stance on yoga. I might have to try it… Anyway, excluding the yoga aspect, I can completely relate to Julie. I’ve been in her position. I’ve been heartbroken. I’ve been abused. I’ve left the abuser. I’ve recovered and I found love again. Julie is my kind of girl. Strong, stubborn, knows what she is going to do to get what she wants… She is the perfect fit for Lawson.

**Can we all just agree to hate Julie’s ex?**

Now Lawson. Mmm, Lawson. Damn sexy is what he is. He is recovering from a nasty helicopter crash in Afghanistan. Yes, he lost a crew member, and yes, that would make anyone not sit right. However, he thinks he can recover on his own. He is strong and stubborn, but also has PTSD. Which is nothing to be ashamed of. Many Marines and Soldiers alike have it. Especially when they have been on the front lines, witnessing the action. Lawson acts like nothing is wrong, but on the inside, he is terrified. I definitely don’t blame him.

Both of these characters are so well developed, there is nothing left to make them better! I fell deep for both characters. I cried when I felt Lawson’s sorrows. I hollered and hooted when Julie stood up for herself. You go, girl! They both made me frustrated and both had “what the hell are you doing” moments.

Annie’s stories are only getting stronger. I enjoyed this one, probably more than I enjoyed Welcome to Forever. Maybe her third book in the series will be about Val? Or Griffin? Or both?! That would be awesome! I cannot wait to see what happens next in Seaside!

Ladies choice.” Each time Lawson said this, my heart swooned just a little more. <3
